H.O.P. Race

Saturday, October 1st - Morganton, NC

WELCOME to Morganton's 11th Annual HOP (Help Our Project) 10k, 5k and 1 mile Family fun run, hosted by and benefiting the projects of the Morganton Service League(MSL).  In past years, our proceeds have contributed to the major renovation of Martha’s Park, an innovative play set in Freedom Park and the “Adventure Playground” in Catawba Meadows Park. Currently, we are making plans for a new playground at the soccer complex at Catawba Meadows.  Click Here to see the wonderful playgrounds the MSL H.O.P Race proceeds helped to create and a preview of the latest addition!

WHO: This year’s Title Sponsor is Mountain Emergency Physicians at Frye Regional Medical Center!

WHAT: 11th Annual HOP Race 5k, 10k and 1 mile family fun run/walk. Gatorade, water, fruit, homemade granola, cookies and pizza provided to all participants after the race. Water stations are provided along the route. Many door prizes given out during the awards presentation.

WHERE: Downtown Morganton, NC. The race begins and ends at Martha’s Park, 200 Collett St.

WHEN: The last Saturday of September, 09/29/2012 the 5k and 10k begin at 8:30am. 1 mile fun run/walk begins approximately at 9:45am. Registration opens at 7:30am.

Saturday, October 1st - Morganton, NC

HOW: The race is put on by many volunteers from the Morganton Service League and many generous, local sponsors. The local high school key and anchor clubs also send volunteers to help along the race course providing mile splits and enthusiastic cheering. To enter, print out a copy of the race registration and mail it to the address provided or register online.  The course is certified and timed by Lee Timing.

WHY: To raise money for projects of the Morganton Service League. Our proceeds have benefited the parks of Burke County for the past 10 years and will do so again this year, adding another playset to the Catawba Soccer & Lacrosse Complex. In the future, the race will benefit other community projects of the MSL. Donations are collected on race day to benefit a local charity. This year we are collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Burke United Christian Ministries. Every item donated will be an entry into a raffle for a Henredon Clifton side table. The raffle will take place at the end of the awards presentation and you must be present to win.
